Colombia’s defense minister is sabotaging the peace process between the government and guerrilla group FARC, the rebel group said Saturday

FARC negotiator “Andres Paris” told press that Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon, who has accused the FARC of violating its own unilateral ceasefire, an “element dedicated to sabotage the peace efforts.”

Nevertheless, Paris said that “there have been no tensions between parties” at the negotiation table and that “our optimism is high.”

The FARC and the Colombian government have been formally negotiating an end to the armed conflict in Cuba since Monday. The rebel group unilaterally announced a ceasefire minutes before entering the talks, but have been accused by the army and defense minister of violating the truce.
