According to preliminary reports, FARC fighters scared drivers from four flat bed trucks and four excavators, before setting fire to the vehicles.
The vehicles are said to have belonged to either Petronorte, a Colombian oil company, or Ecopetrol, Colombia’s state-owned oil company, which contracts Petronorte.
Authorities credited the attacks to FARC Front 33, saying this is the 34th attack in the Catatumbo region by the group since the start of 2012.
This follows Tuesday’s attack on oil trucks in central Colombia; also attributed to the FARC.
